The Registrar’s Office determines all incoming freshmen schedules. In fact, they are busily putting together your schedule right now. You may begin to check out their work by following these steps:
- Go to my.norwich.edu (enter your username and password)
- Click on the Banner Web Tab (enter your username and password)
- Click on Student Services and Financial Aid
- Click Registration and then on Student Detail Schedule
- When prompted to select a term, select “Fall 2014(Traditional*) (View only)”
*Don’t be confused by the word Traditional! This doesn’t have anything to do with your lifestyle choice. Traditional in this case means undergraduate vs. our graduate students!
Please know this is a work in progress. It’s very common at this early stage for class sections, times, instructors, etc. to change before classes begin as the Registrar is juggling class sizes, athletic schedules, faculty changes, etc.
In fact, as you wander through your preliminary schedule you may spot a class that you’d like to change, or maybe you have a college transfer class that is coming in to replace a class you’ve been scheduled for, or perhaps your AP test scores will allow you to replace a scheduled class, but they haven’t arrived yet. In some cases you may see that your scheduled courses are on the same day at the same time and you are wondering how you can be in two places at once.
Don’t panic! In many cases, “holding classes” have been created to determine how many sections of each course will be needed for the semester. This will be reassigned with your actual course information as we get closer to August.
During your first few days on campus you will have the opportunity to meet your Academic Advisor during Academic Day. On this day you and your advisor will go over your schedule together. If there are changes that need to be made this is the time to make them! Your Academic Advisor will give you a PIN number and you will be taught how to go into the online registration system and complete the add/drop forms to make your schedule picture perfect!
So for now, you are welcome to view your schedule but please understand that it is still changing and so purchasing books at this point is too premature – you don’t want to buy the wrong book should your schedule or your instructor change during the next few weeks.
We expect that after August 6th your academic schedule will be much more solid and that would be a good time for you to revisit your schedule and then see what books for each class are on the booklist by visiting NU Bookstore Online.
We look forward to having you on campus in just a few short weeks! In the meantime, make the most of your summer vacation!
