This week has been a preparation for all my midterms. Luckily I got word that one of my harder tests had become a take home. Although I still need to study for it, having a take home often allows more time to complete the exam. It is in my therapeutic exercise class which has so many variables in all of its aspects since the rehabiliation process is continually changing depending on the patient, degree of injury, progression, environment, motivation, and other psychological factors. In this way the test is difficult to determine the most suitable answer when multiple aspects could be appied. I also have a few midterms scheduled for the first day back from break. There are multiple ways for looking at this. I think it will be good to have more time off to really look everything over without so many other stressors, but at the same time the motivation to study while on break might be low and then there is no down time in school before the test is administered. I have to be ready for it right when I get back from break. No matter what though, midterms before break or after, I am just ready for a break! It couldn't come faster. Having some time away from campus and being less pressed for time all the time is really going to benefit my energy level. Spring break will be used to recharge for sure so that I can do the final push to graduation.
For one of my clinical rotations, the one with the physical therapist who comes to campus, I have gotten my case study topic determined. It is good having one topic chosen early so that I can work on parts of my final presentation over this upcoming break. Since my experience while working with the PT is different than while in the Norwich athletic training room I am going to be doing more research for outside information to make up for the lack of hands-on experience. I can only observe the process that the PT takes, but then by doing some of my own evidence based research I will have to compare various treatments.
Once back from break, the Spring sports will be in full swing. I have already attended my last wrestling practice while performing clinical hours at my athletic training room clinical rotation. I will be excited to start having outside sports again. It just needs to warm up some more. Using the new turf field will make setting up the field a lot easier, and it makes it easier to have the athlete play more of the regular scheduled games. Many times, due to the weather, games are cancelled in the Spring. The games are also so tightly packed together, sometimes 3 games in a week, that cancelling a few of the games has a larger impact on the entire season. I hope that things will go more smoothly this year!
