Procrastinating is never a good thing. Ever. Sometimes it's really easy to say to yourself, "I can do that tomorrow," or, "I still have a week before that essay is due." But waiting until the last minute to do something is never really the best option.
This year my plan was to do everything when it was assigned. No more procrastinating. No more stressing and rushing at the last minute to get things done. Well, so much for that plan because here I am, on a Saturday night, with an essay due on Monday that I haven't even started yet. It happens to the best of us, I suppose. I mean, nobody really wants to do everything at the last minute and sometimes it just happens. Life happens. things get in the way sometimes whether it's sickness, stress, arguments with roommates, family problems, or whatever else. Sometimes you're stuck writing papers on a Saturday night instead of going out with friends, or doing whatever else you may want to do. I mean, who really WANTS to sit in their room writing a paper on a Saturday? But when you're in that situation, I think more than anything, it's just motivation not to get stuck in it again.
I think, in times likes this, when it's nearing the end of the semester, you're under the most stress and it's easier for certain things to get to you. So when you let things get to you, it's even easier to put something off until you absolutely have to do it. It's important, when you're stressed, to take a step back for a minute, or take a break, and do something to just let go and let yourself relax, but you need to remember to go back and get yourself on track.
I think I've just been at the point lately that I've been so stressed that I took too long of a break, so when it was time to go back, I was like a little kid after Christmas, not wanting it to end. However, I am determined not to let procrastination be my friend and I'm hoping not to let myself procrastinate so much anymore because the repercussions of procrastination are never usually fun.
