It has been one crazy week. I started my Thanksgiving break yesterday, and it is definitely much needed. It is a little different and weird coming home though especially seeing my high school friends again. My family hasn't changed much though, still loud as ever!
Last week was super busy though. I had a ton of work to finish , as well as get ready to do some projects over break. We are now full swing into basketball season, we had our first official game last Tuesday. We lost, but as a team were still getting used to a new season and we can only go up. This weekend we had two tournament games in Maine. Our game on Friday against Bates was one of my favorite games I've ever had the chance to be apart of. Our teams atmosphere was exhilarating and i think as a team we truly grew. Yesterday we had the opportunity to play the 19th D3 team in the country. We kept up the first half, but ended up losing, but to even keep up with a team like that only shows positives in our teams' future. I'm really looking forward to getting back after break to practice and get better as a team.
I also have to remember that after break there will only be three weeks left before the semester ends. I need to finish off strong so I finish my first semester at Norwich with a strong GPA. I've already chosen my classes for next semester and I am very excited for what is to come. I will be taking 5 classes, which is one more class than I took this semester.
I am very grateful for this break, but come next weekend, I will be ready and eager to get back to work and finish off this semester strong!
We're getting close to our first actual break from school. Thanksgiving is right around the corner and i am definitely ready to see my family and friends back home. It is starting to get very chilly here in the mornings and at night. But after Thanksgiving they'll be a little less than a month before the semester is over. I still can't believe how fast this year is flying by!
We had our first scrimmage this weekend and it went well. As a team we have a lot to improve on, but we can only go up from here. I am starting to grow really great friendships with girls on the team and i'm looking forward to season games starting next week! I am also starting to get used to the whole busy schedule thing trying to balance sports and school.
This week we'll be registering for our classes for next semester, which is exciting! I hoping to take 15 to 18 credits. I just have to make sure i can handle all my classes and sports without becoming to overwhelmed. I'm excited to start taking more classes that are directly related to my major so i stay interested on the material.
Today i was sitting waiting for a teammate after a workout and a tour group came walking through with many prospects. It is crazy to think that just a year ago that was me , and now i am already a great deal into my freshman year, Time really does fly by!
These past two weeks have been super crazy! Basketball season has officially started and it takes up a good amount of my time! You could see by my last post though that us freshman are super excited to put on a uniform again. As the the season begins to get chaotic i have to remember to keep up with my grades because to play i have to have good grades.
Last week was mid semester, some teachers gave exams well others just gave students a glimpse at what there grades are looking like. Many coaches like to see these grades because they want to see where there players are academically and who needs help. My grades were pretty good, and the one class i'm not doing as well as i would like to be doing is geology, which i previously have mentioned i have a tutor for.
This weekend is mid semester break which means we had yesterday off from classes and a little extra time to relax. Unfortunately i have been having an issue with my mouth, which i thought was my wisdom teeth. I came home Thursday night and the Dentist saw me yesterday morning, i ended up having a cracked molar and an infection growing underneath. i had to have the molar removed which stunk. They also told me i am going to need my wisdom teeth taken out over winter break, such a bummer!
I'm excited to get back to school Monday and get back to practice for basketball because our first scrimmage is just around the corner! I want to finish off strong this semester as i start to choose my courses soon for next semester. I hopefully am going to try to pick up a work study next semester if i can juggle it all depending on how many credits i take! But i will have to wait and see! Thanks for reading!
I can't believe it is already my 7th week here at Norwich. It is really crazy how fast time is flying by. I am in love with the foliage here in Vermont it makes waking up for early classes a little easier....key word easier..not easy. But i am enjoying my classes, I have met some great people both freshman and upperclassmen, i like how we get to be in classes with rooks as well. I'm taking 13 credits right now which isn't too bad, but it still keeps me busy.
This is my favorite time of the year though because basketball season officially starts this weekend. I have loved being able to play pick up and workout with the team the past for weeks and getting to know everyone. They're all super nice and welcoming. I am a little nervous for this weekend because ya know, new coach, new team, which means a new experiences. But that is what Norwich is all about.
This weekend I did get the opportunity to go home for a few days which was really nice. I missed my family and my dog, but after being home for just the right amount of time i was ready to come back. Yes things are different here but it is a good kind of different. It was nice to be home though to see friends and have a home cooked meal.
Mid semester is coming up which means exams, so i have been studying a lot and finishing important papers and extra work that i need to get done. I am struggling a little in Geology but I'm not too worried about it. The academic achievement center set me up with a tutor that i will start seeing this Thursday who will hopefully help me better understand the material and get me back on track. Other than that class I am doing pretty good academically, but with basketball starting i have to make sure i keep up with my time management, that is a huge key in college.
So yeah i am loving it here at Norwich, of course i find my self a bit over whelmed sometimes, but i just remember to take a step back and relax. I just have to keep in mind that even if i am playing basketball i' m a student athlete, student first athlete second. the next few weeks will be busy but thanks giving and a little break is right around the corner, being positive is the key to succeeding.
