Another Victory at Cornell!!

        The Saturday before Thanksgiving break, Shock Platoon and the freshmen Candidate class competed at Drill Competition at Cornell University. I went to help out with the Candidates and for moral support. We won first place overall and swept the meet. I was very impressed with the Candidate class because I helped train them and they definitely came a long way! I'm so happy the training paid off!
    In another story there was also a tie breaker between Shock Platoon and the Naval Academy. For the "overtime" they had the Team A colorguards compete to a squad drill card, and of course Shock Platoon won. This is the 8th year NURDT has swept the meet, and as a tab holder of Drill Team I am very proud of this accomplishment! [FIERCE PRIDE]

Home for Thanksgiving!!

        I am so happy to be home for thanksgiving break! Lately, I've been busy just being with my family and hanging out with friends. So far break has been awesome, and it's Thursday and I don't want to go back! This is definitely a well deserved break to get away from everything! But I still have tones of homework to do and so little time to complete it. I feel like this year's Thanksgiving break was so much more enjoyable than last year's break. Maybe it's because as a freshmen, I knew I had to go back to complete something. I looked forward to being one step closer to Recognition and Candidacy. But this year the only thing I have to go back to is more PT and gearing up for finals. I'm definitely soaking up every minute of my break; even waking up at 0630 doesn't bother me! Well I will continue enjoying my break, doing homework, and getting ready for finals!

Almost Thanksgiving break....

    So far I can't believe how fast the school year went by. It's almost Thanksgiving break and for cadets in Drill Team, it's also time for the drill competition at Cornell. The school year has been going by pretty good, I actually did get used to my schedule and actually think it's pretty relaxing. My grades have definitely improved since mid-semester, so I'm happy about that. I have to say my physics class is like a love-hate relationship. I like the lecture class, but I can never do well on some of the quizzes. My sports medicine classes are the most entertaining classes. We do a lot of hands on stuff with a bunch of medical things and it's fun! I look forward to going to those classes because there's always something new to learn and it's different from all my other classes. Sports medicine is a fun major! I'm glad I switched. Even though the medical route can be a bit rocky at times, I'm confident I'll make a future out of it.
   
    After Thanksgiving break, there's two more weeks of school and then finals......I think. Wow, there's not that much time. Now I just have to buckle down, make the most of the semester, and get those grades I need.

Being QUARANTINED.

    So about two weeks ago, right after mid-semester break, I was quarantined for having flu like symptoms for three days. Even though mid-semester break was a well deserved break, right when I came back to campus I felt really sick. Fever, body aches, and a really painful headache...it was pretty bad. I thought being sick was going to  be okay because I thought I would be able to do homework, but I didn't. Instead I stayed in bed, slept-in, and actually rested. It was nice except for the being sick part. What was even worse was that I wasn't even prepared for classes. I was off quaratine on Thursday, which is the day I have all my labs, and I was pretty lost in all my labs, and I also still had my piercing headache. On Friday i felt semi-prepared for class, so during the weekend I actually did quite a bit of homework.

    Lesson learned. Being sick really is not much of a break, especially if you have a heavy course load. Doing homework when your sick, really doesn't work either. In fact, I found that I felt better when I just slept in my bed. Definitely stay healthy here at Norwich, otherwise you'll be really behind on academics and feel really lost.
