PRB (Personnel Review Board) was one of the most scariest events in my life. If you're on scholarship and you do poorly in academics, physical fitness, or performance, you pretty much have a meeting with some of the officers in the Naval Battalion. They ask you questions on why you did poorly and decide on a consequence. I got a PRB for my grades last semester. I was taking Chemistry 104 and Calculus and got D's in them, leading my GPA into a 2.2; in order to keep the scholarship you need a 2.5 or higher. I was in deep water at the time and scared to death I would lose my scholarship.
I guess you can say a PRB is a wake up call to do something and take charge of your life. Whatever you make of college will decide the outcome of your future. But it's not like I blew off calculus and chemistry, I tried very hard in those classes and had other factors that took up my time. Like drill. Also, the curriculum was so hard to understand, I really don't think my mind could excel past calculus because even in high school I did not do really good. I realized I had to do something BIG, especially with my major change to sports med. So I took charge with my life and took care of my grades. Signing my PRB papers at the end of the semester also raised up the scare factor! That was a wake up call to do my best on my finals.
I have good grades now and I hope to do the same for this upcoming semester. =D
