These past two weeks have been the most fast pace, most demanding, and most awakening weeks of my life. I have made it past Rook week and have made it past the first academic week along with my Rook brothers and sisters. I'd like to say that this is something worth being proud about coming from the regular world with regular states of mind.
Everything you do and say is completely changed the second you step into the Norwich society. The echos of the cadre's voice teach and dictates the order in whic one conducts themselves throughout the year and you are held accountable for every action or inaction you take within the Corps. It gets frustrating at points and things don't exactly make sence at first but they tell us "we do everything here for a purpose."
During the long Rook week I been up and down and everywhere else trying to learn how this new lifestyle will work and had some interesting expiriences along the way. From the cadre in my face to the room cleaning to the 50 foot repel from a tower. That week I was able to do some things I've never got to do and meet people that have the same mindset and goals as I do. The strange thing about it is that the days went by so fast and the days almost blend together. It is hard for me to remember what we did on what day but all I know what that the high points were great and the low points were challenging. I also know that my cadre are great leaders with great expectations not only from us but from themselves as well.
Now that I am at this point I want to excel here at Norwich University now more than ever. I am motivated to doing all I can here and doing what I can to be a better student and recrut here on campus because of the students here that strive to do the same thing. I know I am not the brightest or the best here but I will work to be the brightest or something close to it.
You guys have anything to say or ask, fire away.
hello Michael villegas my name is carlton kippins from Albany high school in new York. I was wondering what you had to do to get in to Norwich and to join the university's rotc program?

When I originally commented I clicked the -Notify me when new comments are added- checkbox and now each time a comment is added I get 4 emails with the same comment. Is there any way you're able to get rid of me from that service? Thanks!
