Wowzazz....end of rookie basic. After almost 15 weeks of being here...phase one is finally complete. Saturday was a day of motivation. I personally thought it was fun even though it sucked. We watched batman Friday night which was pretty good....we dressed up in our Rookie Storms...also known as the uniform we arrived in on Rook Arrival Day. We found it pretty motivating. Either way we prepared for Saturday and headed to bed.
Saturday....0630.....time to start the day. Field ACU's, camelbacks....our faced in camo paint. BOOM we were off to the first event. The pull-ups. Now it doesn't seem that bad but we were rotating through to do as many pull ups as we could. I did alot and my arms were beat. We got the highest amount of pull-ups in Provo battalion. It was pretty motivating to start off the day. Then we headed up to the UP and we ran around with big tires for a bit. After that we did something that I personally thought I could never do. We pulled a truck across the UP. A truck! I was pretty amazed by it. Then we did the most tiring exercise as of yet. Buddy carries and stretcher runs 4 times up and down the UP. I was carried most of the time because I was light but I gotta give it to my rook brothers. They did outstanding. After that we went back down to the field for our final event. We sprinted a lap the buddy carries for another lap. After that we did squad push-ups. Basically...our squad was in a line connected and we all had to do push ups. Crazy. Then we had to go run another lap ha. Then it was the Platoon push up. Intensely hard but we did it finally. After that we were pretty smoked but still really motivated. we headed to the rugby pitch and formed up for the finale. We did a regimental hike to the top of dole hill...to the cemetery. It was amazing. The view of the campus from there was beautiful. The hike was hard but we pushed through it and made it.
They sat us down and then it was over. Rookie Basic was over. We got a few privileges too. One being NO MORE ROOK COVER! I swear my IQ dropped everytime I wore it. But yeah now we can wear patrol covers. I'm pretty stoked.
We also had way too many fire drills than needed....being in your bathrobe outside in the rain is NOT FUN ha ha eh...but really....
This week is Drill Co.'s big week. We have mandatory practice all week to prepared for Saturday's competition. I'm doing the Color Guard for team B. I'm the left rifle and I'm super nervous. My first college drill competition. Alot of late night practices but it will be worth it. Our goal is to beat Team A...shock platoon color guard. teheh.
Anyways...I got to eat breakfast today and it felt good to take my time. I feel so much more awake now. Off to carry out the plan of the day :-)
