A Bad Weekend Gone Terrible

Hello There,

So, this past weekend was our championship game vs. Emerson to be GNAC Champs. We played our game in Boston at 6. We started the game and I knew that it would not end well. We started off looking into the sun and it all went downhill from there. Emerson scored very quick and continued while we just went through the motions and didn’t really play with any kind of spark of enthusiasm. By the end of the first half, we were down 13-4. At half time, we tried to get pumped up again so we could try and come back with a win, but that did not happen. We ended up losing 18-9.  We were all sad but at the end of the game, we all knew that the team that had played best that day had won.
On Sunday, we had a soccer play-day where we played a women’s team and then a local college team.  We lost the first game but dominated the second game.  Getting back into the game was great, it felt so good to kick the ball around again and made me truly realize just how much I missed playing. After the game Coach had invited both the soccer and lacrosse team’s out to dinner, since he coached both.  At dinner something happened that I never thought would.  Coach told us that he would be resigning and moving to New York with his family for personal reasons.  This news shocked everyone, no one was expecting this to happen, but it did.  This news was very saddening. I am sad to see coach go because as much as I hated him for making us doing crazy things like running 3 miles for a warm up and then another 3 miles in sprints, I hated him for, but I truly do love him and I know that I will miss him dearly as a coach and person. Next season is going to be interesting because last soccer season we truly were a team, but now with a new coach it will not be the same. I understand why he is doing it but I really do not want him to leave us. The weekend was bad at the beginning and then ended terribly. Hopefully the rest of these 2 weeks will go by smoothly with out any upsets. Till next time.

GNAC FINAL PARTICIPANTS

Hi,

Yesterday was our semi-final lacrosse game vs. Lasell. We did very well and beat them 22-11. Which means that we will be having a rematch game on Saturday vs. Emerson College for the GNAC Championship. This is going to be a great game because our last game was well matched and a very good game to watch. Yesterday was a great day. In addition to winning my lacrosse game, it was Wednesday which means that the week is half over, which also means that I have a week and a half left of classes before finals begin. Right now it is a little stressful with trying to get all of my work done and studying for exams, which I have 3 of, two on the 7th of May and one on the 8th of May, and then after that freshman year is over and I can’t wait. Freshman year so far has been great. I have experienced many new things, like making history in soccer at Norwich, meeting many new people, and even learning how to play and successfully play a new sport. I love going to school here, I honestly do not know if I would like any other college or university as much as this one. I have to go and get some studying done, but I will update this weekend about our lacrosse game, till then have a great rest of the week.

Busy Busy Busy

Hi!

Sorry it’s been a while but I have been super busy lately with school.  Classes are going well, but since it is the end of the year professors are trying to get in all the work they need to by the time finals roll around which is in 2 weeks.  I can not believe that this year is going to be over so soon, it really flew by. Last week I registered for classes next semester and it looks like I am going to be pretty busy taking General Physics and Human Anatomy and Physiology in addition to my English elective, Sports Med. Class, and my coaching class.  I am looking forward to next semester when I will be getting more in depth on topics dealing with my major.  That’s another thing, I am going to double major in Athletic Training and Health Sciences, which isn’t too hard because many of the classes overlap, I will also have a minor in Biology and a minor in coaching, so it looks like when I graduate I will be graduating with many things which is always good.  In addition to classes, lacrosse has been time consuming as well.  We have done well this season; we are 7-4 and are seeded #2 in our conference.  Conference playoffs begin on Wednesday when we play Lasell who we defeated earlier in the season 19-12. Also this past weekend was Junior Ring ball. I went with my boyfriend and had a blast. We danced the night away and took many pictures. I hope everyone has a great start to their week and I will be sure to update you on how the lacrosse game goes on Wednesday.

April Fools Joke

Hey there!

Yesterday as many of you know was April Fool’s Day and the day of my lacrosse game vs. Green Mountain.  We won our game against Green Mountain 20-7 which was very good, we got a lot of practice in doing things like setting up plays and shooting low, which obviously worked for us. The game went very well except it was raining but we overcame that obstacle. On the bus ride, home I got a call from my boyfriend saying that he had a letter for me that was serious.  So I begged him to tell me what it was about but he insisted that I wait till I got back to campus to read it. For the rest of the 2-hour bus ride, I sat there wondering what could possibly be in this letter.

When I got back to my room, I could not wait to open it.  So, my roommate gave it to my other roommate and me so that we could read it.  In the letter, it said that the athletic department was going to have to cut the football and women’s soccer and softball teams for next year.  I was fuming when I read this.  I was thinking how could this possibly be happening when we had had such a successful season in the fall.  My roommate was playing along and kept going with it.  When I had said that I would email my coach asking if it were true, my boyfriend jumped out from under the bed saying don’t worry its just an April fools joke.  I was so mad I at because I thought that it were true, but after many laughs and a few minutes I wasn’t mad because I knew it was all fun and games. We then decided to go and play this joke on more of our teammates and with each person that we fooled thier reactions got better and better.  So I hope that if you got an April Fool’s Day joke played on you that it was as fun as mine was.

Tomorrow we have our first home lacrosse game against a GNAC rival St. Joes Maine and then we will be traveling to Boston to play Lasell on Saturday, another rival of ours, so I will be sure to tell you how they both go.  Till then everyone has a great Friday.

A Lacrosse Weekend

Hey!

This weekend was the lacrosse weekend.  We had a game on Saturday vs. Pine Manor, which we won 15-10.  That game was very interesting.  We got up Saturday morning around 6:15 so we would make it to the bus so it could leave by 7 am.  The bus ride was 3 hours long and the majority of the team slept the whole way down.  When we arrived at Pine Manor, it was beautiful out, a perfect day to play lacrosse.  So we warmed up and get ready to play.  But we were set back because the refs were not very efficient, they made us wait to fix the fields and made us wait to check in, so our game was delayed 20 minutes. Then once the game started it seemed like the refs did not know what they were doing, they made up calls and didn’t call things that are in the rule book. So the refs were not at par but there is nothing we can do about that. But on the upside of things I got my first assist of the season, which I was excited about.

After the game we drove 2 hours to get to the hotel in Connecticut. After we setteled in at the hotel we went to one of our teammate’s house’s for a team dinner which was really nice because we all bonded as a team. After the dinner my dad picked me up and I went home for the night. When I woke up Sunday morning I got ready for church and packed all of my bags so that once church was over I could head to Hartford for my second game of the weekend. While I was on my way I got a phone call from one of my teammates saying that the field that we were supposed to be playing at was under water and that the game was cancelled. I was pretty mad because I was going to be able to see many family friends that I hadn’t seen in a while. So my dad drove me to the hotel and from there I got right on the bus and we headed back to school.

Overall the weekend was okay, I was able to see my family which I was excited for and I also got my first assist. Our next game is on Wednesday vs. Green Mountain so I will be sure to update you with how that game goes. I hope everyone has a great Monday and rest of the week.

The First Lacrosse Game of the Season

Hey!

So yesterday, we had our first lacrosse game of the season vs. American International College.  We left school at 8:30 and arrived in Springfield, Mass. around 11 am.  Once at AIC we changed into our uniforms and headed out to the field.  We started warming up by running laps across the field followed by stretching.  We then got with a partner and started to pass.  Next, we did shuttle lines where we practiced more passing and ground balls.  After we did 3 v 3 drills where I went a little to far and trip and flew on my knees and threw my back out.  Now if you don’t remember I threw my back out in a soccer game in the fall and boy did this time hurt just as much a the last time.  Because of my stupidity, I was unable to play in the first game.  We ended up losing to AIC 10-6 but we could have won.  This loss I believe will not determine how we will play the rest of our season.  As for my back I have been very sore but not nearly as sore at I was during soccer season. Now I need to make sure that I get the proper treatment for is so that I do not throw it out again this season.  Our next game is on Tuesday vs. Simmons College in Boston, so I will be sure to tell you all how that goes.  Till next time, I hope everyone has a great week.

8 weeks left

Hey!

So, I know it has been a while but not much has gone on.  I just got back from spring break and it was uneventful.  I went to New York City with one day and then hung out and relaxed at home the rest of the week.  Unfortunately, I also got pink eye.  I should have expected this because for the 5 weeks prior to spring break there was an out break of pink eye on campus, were it seems like everywhere I turned the person I was looking at had pink eye. This week is going to be interesting too with getting back into school and it is our first lacrosse game this weekend.  So, I will be sure to report back with how that goes.  I am sorry for is being so long posting, but nothing has really happened up here the past few weeks, but these last 7 or 8 weeks will be interesting now that the lacrosse games are starting.  So I will be sure to tell you all how the game goes on Saturday, but until then I hope everyone has a great week.

Community Service

Hey there!

I hope everyone had a good valentine’s day, I know I did.  Today was a good day.  We had our bowl-a-thon for the Ronald McDonald house.  Our coach told us about this at the end of the season and we were all excited to raise money for a good cause and to have some fun too.  So the team gathered at the bowling alley and got ready for some fun.  We bowled one game but had a blast.  There was a lot of trash talking about who was going to be the best and knock down the most pins.  At the end of the night, I don’t know how much money we raised but I know that we all had a good time and I hope we raised a good amount.  This event was a lot of fun and it was one act of community service that our team did that was fun, but beneficial at the same time.  But, it’s getting late now and it’s been a long day.  So until next time I hope everyone has a great start to his or her week.

Visiting UNH

Hey there!

My first week of lacrosse is over and its great.  In practice this week, we ran everyday except for the last day when we got to scrimmage which was a lot of fun, but I know that I have a lot of work to do to get better which I am willing to do anything for. This upcoming week we will probably be more drills with our sticks, so hopefully I will get better everyday.  After the long week of classes and practice, I went to visit my friend at University of New Hampshire and I loved it.  I was so glad I got to see her and see what it’s like to go to a big campus. At UNH we hung out with her roommate and friends and we also went to eat at Wings Your Way which is a great wings place. While being at UNH it really made me realize how much more I love Norwich because it just seemed like everyone at Norwich is so much friendlier than some of the people up there.  But overall I had a great weekend and it was a nice way to end a somewhat stressful week.  Till next time.

Superbowl Sunday

Hi!

Well Superbowl Sunday has ended.  It was a good night a little bittersweet too.  You see every year my dad would take my sisters and I to the Superbowl party that was held at the firehouse.  Each year I had a blast hanging out with the guys and eating lots of good food, but this was the first year I couldn’t be there.  It was different being with all of my friends watching the game and in a way, I looked it but in a way I didn’t cause it wasn’t what I was used to.  However I still had a great night and I am very glad that the Steelers won.  So I hope everyone had a good night and now it is time for bed, I have a big day tomorrow!
