My name is Participant Doss, I am 16 years old and from Houston, Texas. I participate in Air Force JROTC at my school. Today I learned that being patient and calm goes a long way and that both are good qualities in a leader. The greatest challenge that I encountered was trying to keep everyone from fighting within my group so we could all get along and work together. It was also difficult to motivate my group. I would use the lessons I learned today in the future while I am in a difficult situation or a work place where people are not getting along or cooperating. I had the most fun cooking dinner with my team because we were able to learn more about each other and we all had a good time.

Today I learned that it is important to be organized as a leader. Not only with your own things do you need to be organized, but also you need to organize your team and make sure that they have their own things all together and prepared. The greatest challenge I had today was keeping my teammates calm when their shelters collapsed. I will use what I learned today at camp in the future to maintain strong group integrity in stressful situations. The activity I had the most fun with today was building our shelters.

The most valuable thing I learned today was that ferns and pine needles make for good insulation in a shelter. The most challenging thing I encountered today was building my shelter, I found it very difficult. I will use what I learned today in the future if I am ever stranded in the woods, whether is be alone or with other people, to build a shelter with what is in the woods and nothing else. I had the most fun today making dinner with my team.

The greatest challenge that I encountered today was building my shelter so that no rain would get in. I would use these skills sets in the future if I were to enlist in the Army or commission as an officer. The activity that I had the most fun with today was cooking dinner over the fire.

The most valuable lesson I learned today is that hard working individuals are key to team unity and lazy people are what can make the team fall apart. Today I learned that being a good leader is a true challenge as well as gear and team accountability is very important. The greatest challenge I encountered today was getting my team together to build a shelter that will satisfy all of the team members needs and getting everyone to work together on it. In my future at Norwich, I would use these lessons to work my way through the ranks in the Corps of Cadets and be a commissioned officer.
