Officially done with the first week of school. Hurray. It's turning out to be quite a bit easier than I had expected. I guess when you switch from having to balance the Army, school, and mothering to balancing just the latter two, life becomes much much easier.

This past weekend was great. It's been so long since I was able to be a normal person attending holiday festivities. Typically, I am in some way involved with the putting on of the show, or more unfortunately, off to some far corner of the earth celebrating in between work duties, wishing I was home with the family. I believe, without a doubt, that there are quite a few people walking around this campus who have no idea what lies ahead of them, and what opportunities they will miss out on in the future. And of course, what opportunities they will have the chance of encountering instead. Be it by volunteering or volunTOLDing.

T minus 14...

So here we are. The last night before heading back to school. I have done what I can to prepare up to this time. Now, I am searching the web for a poster of Bonnie and Clyde. Not a movie photo, but the real deal. As for school, my VA money fell through for this semester. Good thing I thought of and participated in a Plan B. I applied for financial aid, just in case this very scenario happened. Lucky me. I'm looking forward to tomorrow, and even more so, next Monday. I am in need of some good learning!

First Post... FINALLY!

Hello All! I am still in the process of setting up the internet at my home, so please bare with me! ...it has been QUITE the hassle. Other than that, my move from New York and my final days with the Army have all been a great success. There are just 11 days left until school begins, and I am becoming quite anxious. What is exciting about this impending date, however, is that my son will be starting second grade the same day! Oh what fun! This is rather short today, as I have 100 things to do and my time on the computer here is limited. But, I will close with a short introduction of myself. I am a commuting, non cadet student in the Nursing program. I have taken roughly 25 credit hours of courses through a community college while finishing up my time with the military. After growing up in Randolph, Vermont, I spent 6 years in the Army in various locations around the United States, as well as one year in Iraq and one year in South Korea. I am a single mother of a 7 year old boy. I have a 2 year old Boxer, who is quite the special animal. In my spare time I enjoy working out, being outdoors, reading, writing, drawing, playing bass guitar, cooking and sleeping. I am an avid Red Sox fan, and I enjoy watching the Norwich team on the ice. I hope you continue to check in on my blog, and I promise that I will post much more often once I am back connected to the internet at home! Cheers!
