2007-2008: Sabrina Wellington

Hey there, sorry it's been so long since my last blog but b/w work, and spending quality time with my boyfriend and family I've been really busy. Work is going rather well and I'm into three different projects now, one's not as big as the other two but they're all important. I'm learning a lot by working here and not because I've received much training (because I haven't since the first day) but because I was just kind of pushed into the project(s) and had to learn to fend for myself. I'm working on two different Boces projects and one school district project. It's a lot of fun but can be very stressful. Also, my boyfriend and I are doing really well and thankfully we both were able to get interns this summer for school so we've been really busy but of course can always find time for each other. Sorry I haven't written in awhile, but finishing up the semester, finals, starting vacation, and finally starting my summer job yesterday I've been busy. This summer I'm working at Beardsley Design and Associates, it is an Architecture firm back home in Auburn, NY. The firm consists of Architects, Landscaping Architects, and Engineers. My second day here already and I'm working on the Trumansburg school renovations project. It's due at the end of July so there really is not much time left to get things done but this is the team I'm on and I'm hoping that I what I have learned already while in school will help me throughout the summer and that this experience is as great for my co-workers as I'm sure it will be for me.     Sorry it's been sooo long without a post. I've been extremely busy with final projects, papers, and exams coming up. My design project has taken me the most amount of time because I have to do all of my heart drawings, a model at 1/16"=1'-0" scale and one at 1/4"=1'-0 sooo that's taken me awhile in itself and I haven't even started the 1/4" scale model yet and I still have to trace my drawings and possibly render them depending on the amount of time I have. Also, I have to start studying for two finals next week. I have to be here from this saturday May 3-May 6 without anything to do except study because my finals aren't until May 7th and May 8th, then I'm finally going home afterwards. I've already started packing my room up too because I don't want that to keep me from leaving once everything is over with. Well I really should be going and working on design while I have a few hours before work. Hopefully I'll be able to write again before I go home. Have a good week.

Hello again,
    Sorry it's been over a week since my last blog, these past two weeks have been so very busy and have gone by so quickly. It's coming down to the end of the semester and final projects, papers, and exams are all coming so quickly. Architecture is going well but lately the amount of work requested in the short amount of time has been a little over whelming. This past week for example, Monday we were asked to draw and render in color an interior perspective (a drawing in 3-d that gives a deeper understanding of a space) and it was due Wednesday and then again on Wednesday we were asked to draw an exterior perspective of our building and the surrounding buildings and render it in color based on what it would look like at night. It gave us a lot more understanding of our buildings and the potential they contain but it just seemed a little to much in such a short time. As well as architecture I have had history homework, a Human Issues in Design project which is due in less than two weeks and a 5-10 page paper for it due in less than three weeks. Plus I've been struggling with physics too but I'm getting a tutor for that so that hopefully I'll be able to pass with a B- at least. I've been quite busy with all of that homework and still maintaining a part time job on top of all of it. Well have a good rest of the weekend and a good upcoming week.

P.S. For the mother of the incoming rook who left me the comment the other day. Admissions would be your best try, I have a friend who is a rook this year and I can try and ask him what his process was. I hope that it helps and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

Well first day back from vacation, which was absolutely great and I had such a good time and wish that it didn't end so quickly. It's only Monday and I already have another test on Friday in English, a major and minor project in Human Issues in Design (it's a architecture class that introduces us, the students to how people interact with each other and architecture). I still have my final project from design going on, it's going to continue until the end of the semester. It's the project that we started by going to Montpelier and measuring all of the buildings and minor locations of the street lights, stop signs, etc. I'm still working on designing a daycare center on the bottom two floors and two floors of apartments above it. Physics seems to be just as hard as it was at the beginning but I'm going to go for help to the academic support center so that my grade hopefully goes up. I also started a new job off campus, which I work at four days a week and I have between 16-20 hours a week on top of my homework and classes already. So it is possible to do, but takes a lot of time management to maintain it. Talk to you again later bye.

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY

    It's the middle of the week and I have just received an e-mail about my blog well not to be rude or anything but NO i did not know that i had comments posted at the beginning it was noted when one was left and now its not. Well my life at Norwich is alright there has been a lot of work coming out of the architecture studio and right now I have three projects on my plate for design alone as well as a midterm to study for and another essay exam next week too. I've been trying to keep myself active by going to the gym daily even on the weekends and reading while i workout to try and relieve some stress from the daily work. I'm taking five classes right now and it does seem to be a bit more than I'm used to but at my last school (Morrisville State College) I could take six and it wouldn't phase me, it just seems that a lot of professors are very book smart but don't seem to have a very good hand on how to teach the material to their students. It has gotten a lot colder here too but yesterday was quite nice. We have rearranged our studio in the past of couple of weeks and we are planning on painting it very soon to give it a new look and a better feel to our working environment. We also had the Beaux Arts ball last weekend in down town Montpelier. Its an architecture ball where there is a theme and each student who goes has to make their own costume out of unexpected materials such as duct tape, traps, or trace paper. I personally didnt go because I was busy but I heard that it was a lot of fun and this weekend we have the winter carnival so hopefully that'll be fun as well. Also our design class is engaged in an in depth project. We had to go and measure three blocks of downtown Montpelier, such as Main st. and State St. and that was the group I'm in which only has twelve people and the rest of the class had other things to do such as zoning, history, title and deeds, and photo's. It has been a very long project because it took a lot of hard work and time standing out in the cold getting all sorts of measurements such as a two inch detail on a wall to where the man holes in the roads are. It has been fun as well as a lot of work and I hope that soon enough this one will be done. The next part we have is to design a building to go into a site on Main st. and my idea is to have a multi-purpose building. A daycare on the street level and apartments on floors above it. Also we have to design a door for a door competition and incorporate it into our new building design. Well that's enough for now and I hope that everyone who reads my blog has something more appropriate to say next time. I'm sorry no I did not believe that this many people read my blog and sometimes my entries are last minute and what's on my mind comes out in my words. As a blogger we were asked if possible to write atleast one a week and yes sometimes it is very hard to remember as I'm sure you can grasp now. So please keep reading and let me know what you think. Sorry its been over a week since I've written last. I had an amazing weekend because my boyfriend came up to see me on Valentine's day and I didn't have any homework to do while he was here... It was a prefect past couple of days. I love him sooo much and it really does suck being seven hours apart sometimes, but it does make seeing each other that much better. I love you soo much Chris. Well have a good week everyone.

This week has taken sooo long to go by and its not even over yet, but the weekend is almost here and my sweetheart is that much closer to being here. I miss him sooo very much and I love him w/all of my heart. Valentines day is almost here too and i cannot wait to be able to spend the entire day w/him. Well its finally friday again which in my case sometimes is much worse than mondays anymore.... its raining and suppose to start sleeting and we have a field trip from hell today. What fun is that going to be, outside in this weather measuring buildings in a three block piece of Montpelier, no thank you I'll pass. I just really wish that I could leave this weekend and go back to see my sweetheart again, he makes everything seem so much better than it may actually be. But he is coming to see me for five days around valentine's day and I really cannot wait for that. Classes are just plain driving me crazy w/four different projects, two different papers... all that have to be done by next week... haha yeh right. Oh well I miss u sweetie and everyone have a nice weekend.

well the week is almost over again and its kinda hard to believe i've been back for almost two weeks now but the amount of work is driving me crazy. I'm working on three different projects and two different papers and trying to learn a subject that i dont really know and the professor doesn't really teach it to us, right now... so yeh i could really use a break or atleast a day to clear my head. So i really can't wait cause i'm going to see my wonderful boyfriend this weekend and i'm missing him sooo much that I'm pretty much going to drop everything and just leave for two days because well everyone needs a break once in awhile. I love you sooo much sweetie and happy 6 months today.
