Today started in a usual manner, awakened at 5 by the dogs, roosters, and birds. I had some breakfast, rice and beans, and headed off to meet the group by 8. We took a bus to La Chispa, and were tasked out to do different activities. Half of the group spent a couple hours teaching the morning English class, while the other half tried to start the library card project. There were several technical difficulties but after we figured it out it became a rather simple process. At about 11 we took a break to have lunch. We had tortillas, beans, rice, chicken, soup, mangos we picked from the tree in the back, and watermelon and pineapple juice, one of the best meals so far. After resting and doing countless numbers of puzzles, we split into three groups, some of us left the library to go to the high school English class, the teacher never showed up so our group actually taught the whole class. The rest of us who stayed back either taught at the afternoon English class or continued to work on the library cards. Right before leaving we took one more break to have chocolate bananas made by the next door neighbor. We got on the bus to head back to San Ramon at about 4. We stopped at a hardware store in Matagalpa on the way to check out supplies we might need for the upcoming projects in El Chile. When we got back everyone went to their houses for dinner. My mom runs a dance group in our house. Every day kids from here come over and practice different dances. My mom invited our group over to watch and learn how to do some traditional Nicaraguan dances. We all had a great time trying. Then they wanted to see American dancing, but the only dance most of us knew was the Cotton Eye Joe, so we did it. I´m not sure if they liked it or not. All in all it was a really good day with a fun end.
