Well, after being delayed for 2 days followed by another seemingly endless day of travel we are finally, after all of this time, on the flight to Managua. After months of preparation, we are actually doing it. This is going to be great. After all this time I’m finally going. This is it, a few more hours and it will be the farthest I’ve ever been from home. The biggest concern now is communication. Will I be able to understand my family? Will we be able to communicate where we need to be to each other? Even so I doubt it will be a huge issue. Other than watching a lot of movies and getting my butt kicked in cards, not much has happened worth mentioning. Honestly, I’m just thinking about arriving in Nicaragua. I wonder what the places will look like, how will the Nicaraguans react to us, some of the other people on this plane seem to also be going to do some community service trips as well. Other than that, the group seems to be remarkably patient with me given this is my first international trip in a while. Here’s to hoping they don’t despise me by the 13th. I like these people and I want the feeling to stay mutual.
