The One Where I Have Advice

If you’ve decided to go to college allow me to tell you how stressful of a decision you have just made; but that’s okay. College is great, and after a whole first week I would say I’m basically an expert. Today is a big day for me and freshmen everywhere, today we survived our first week of classes. After this week of experience I feel I’m ready to share my wisdom with soon to be freshmen everywhere. First fun fact: Always address your professor as professor. You will only make this mistake once if at all. For whatever reason the professors refuse to be called anything other than their title. The One Where I Find Friends

The first week of college is crazy. If you plan on coming and remaining a introvert, I’ve got some bad news for you; you can’t. There are people everywhere, and just like you they are very lonely and slightly scared. Due to these ridiculous feelings, these people want to talk to you. So this is the story of how I became trapped with what I assume will remain my friends. I sat down on a blecher ready to pretend like I was going to participate in a sport when a random girl sat down next to me and started talking to me. At first I did my best to try to get away from what seemed to me an insane human, but eventually my efforts wore off. The Inauguration: Week 1

I should admit, it was never smooth. I am a sophomore transfer student from a small prestigious liberal arts school where we had no exams. We were wholly graded by our classroom participation —which required a brazen willingness to speak in class and just resist to stop if and when you get interrupted (seminar-like style). But also, they gave a grade to the papers we wrote on different subjects as guided by our tutors/professors. That was it. Enrolling here this fall, the opening week is already a shock to my system. I not only have exams but also quizzes every morning, graded lab reports, monthly tests, and exams. I do know this is what I used to do in High School but the relapse from it in my freshman year of college has made it slightly tricky for me to adapt to the new reformations.
