No, I didn't forget about all of you. I just had to settle in for the semester, but expect to hear from me regularly now.
Some insight on my year so far: I am the Company Commander of Cadet Training Company 4. It is both an honor and privilege to be able to work and develop young minds.
I'll say this, the difference between last year as a Platoon Sergeant and this year as a CO is...well...drastic. Command is much more organized based, and although I may not be the one that trains the rooks directly, I'm the one that plans it. So parent's, if your rook is calling home saying "This is tough", well...you can thank me for that. But rest assured, everything that is planned in this company is professional, safe, and double checked so that everyone GAINS something from it.
I can not believe I'm a senior already. I can still recall the fog on the hills when I showed up for Rook Arrival Day. I can still feel that empty feeling in the pit of my stomach, that dread that I was making a mistake. 3 years ago I began, 2 years ago I stayed, 1 year ago I trained, this year: I lead.
In the meantime, I have to get some planning done for the company, then start on homework.
'Til next time, it's always a hoot.
