It is that time of the year again when the FAFSA becomes available. For prospective students that are reading this, you will quickly realize that the FAFSA will be a huge part of your next four plus years. It is the application for all types of federal aid like grants and loans. For many of us, we wouldn't be able to afford school without it. It is an annoying process and takes a while to gather all the information and fill it out, but it is super necessary. I know my family dreads when the FAFSA comes out, but this year we are filling it out early instead of waiting for Thanksgiving break like I have the last two years.
There are a lot of people who file for FAFSA but unfortunately aren't eligible. Don't let that discourage you! Especially if you are still a high school student. Talk to your guidance counselor at school, there are LOTS of scholarships for graduating seniors. Apply for as many as you can! Also do some research and see if there are any scholarships specific to your state or surrounding area. There are lots of ways to get scholarships, and lots of organizations want to sponsor young adults and their education, especially if you are from a low income town.
I get how scary paying for school can sound, make sure you explore every avenue! Feel free to leave a comment if you have any questions!
