Things to Do- Mt. Paine

While it is great to have study hall time on Sundays, depending on work load, the amount of study hall time can get to be too much, or you just need a breather from being in barracks. One of my favorite things to do when I don’t have a lot of work, is go hiking on Mt. Paine on Sunday’s. What’s fun about Mt. Paine, is that once you cross over into the mountain area, you’re at ease and able to explore as you wish. Some of my favorite areas of Mt. Paine are the quarry and the very top of Freshman field, as each gives equally impressive views. I also find it very fun to be free to explore and climb with my friends, espeacially when compared to LED lights and beige/white walls. Halloween at NU

HALLOWEEN!!! Today was Halloween, which meant costumes and candy! While I am not in Army, I did get to see the Army guys at PT run and “trick or treat” with costume pt gear on. And then again at morning formation, various upperclassmen wore different costumes. Our PL and two of our other cadre wore teletubby costumes, while others were aliens, Siamese twins, etc. While as rooks we did not get to participate, it definitely made morning formation more interesting. However, what I did get to participate in was passdown in costume. Our whole platoon scrapped together costumes with items that we had, and items we were able to acquire. My roommate, Taylor, was dressed as a peanut [pictured below] as a tribute to her peanut butter addiction. Mid-Semester Things

Over mid semester break, I was able to both go home to MA, and bring some of my rook siblings home with me. And I can say it was definitely a needed break from rookdom. The first night, I was lucky enough to make it to see the end of my sisters volleyball game, something I have never been able to do before. What was really cool, was that as a result of my school buying new uniforms, my sister was playing in my old jersey. It was also really cool to see some of my old teammates, and see how all the younger girls have progressed. Along with trying to explain volleyball to my rook siblings, who all knew close to nothing about the game.
