I have been asked so many times by my peers, how I juggle time to have a job while attending school full time. I honestly couldn’t tell you how I have the time because it can get challenging having to work when you have assignments due left and right. However, I think it is VERY important to separate your personal life from school. You still need to find time to do things that make you happy. I enjoy going to my job because it gives me a break from school work and also gives me some time to get off campus. I think it is essential to have a job during college even if it is a few hours a week, not only to be making a little bit of money but also to give you that self pride. Once you see paychecks coming in, you get a sense of joy, accomplishment and fulfillment which is a part of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. For anyone who doesn’t know what Maslow’s hierarchy of needs is, it is a theory in psychology that is defined as the “importance of an individual to achieve complete development and self actualization.” Basically saying, in order to live a happy healthy life you need those basic needs.
My advice on having a job in school is a really good idea for many reasons. Regardless of how much studying/homework you have, you still need to make time to do normal life things. Also, who doesn’t like making money, even if it is a little?!
