Am I upset that I don’t have to wake up for PT at 0530? Not at all. Do I miss the mandatory trainings? Nope. But do I miss the people and the atmosphere of Norwich? Absolutely.
I miss walking to class with my friends, having crazy conversations at chow, and movie nights with my rook siblings and cousins. I miss being there for the freshman if they need someone to talk to or are looking for some advice. I miss having my gym buddies guilt me into going running with them.
Being home, I forgot how much chaos happens on a daily basis at school. There’s always something going on to keep life interesting.
To stay connected, a few of my friends have scheduled game nights by playing JackBox games or used the Zoom platform to watch movies together. Even just being on a call to do homework together helps keep us sane.
Not being able to say a proper goodbye to the seniors is especially difficult. A text isn’t the same as being able to attend the ceremony and celebrate with the people that helped you grow so much since being your cadre or mentors of other forms. I hope the best for the seniors as they graduate and move out into the real world.
