I’ve never fully known what I want to do with my life. Any time I think I have it figured out, I end up deciding it’s not what I actually want. The most I’m sure of is that I’ll be in the Army for at least four years, but I’m not even sure of what I’ll do during my time of service.
Every once in awhile I think about my major and what my future might look like. I came to Norwich as a Criminal Justice major with the goal of being a corrections officer. Interestingly enough, the CJ classes were my least favorite and my worst grades. However, Fall of my sophomore year I decided to switch to International Studies. This switch came after studying abroad in Taiwan over that Summer. To be completely honest, in general I don’t like school. Although I put in the work to get good grades, I typically have little to no interest in what I’m learning. Surprisingly, when I was in Taiwan I loved learning about the culture and the language.
When I was first looking at colleges, I was considering majoring in marketing. I think if Norwich had that major, I may have gone that path. I’ve always had fun with social media - one example being the Instagram I made for my rabbit. Although I’m mainly just doing these things for fun, I do get paid for some social media/marketing related things and I think it’d be solid base if I did end up pursuing marketing.
I don’t know exactly what I want to do with my life, but I think I’m on the right path if I’m majoring in something I enjoy.
