Blog #1: The Beginning
Hello, my name is James Leary. For this first blog I will introduce myself, explore my goals, and tell you what I am looking forward to at Norwich. To everyone who is also new to blogging, I am looking forward to working along side of you during our time at Norwich. To all of my fellow Rooks and Civilian Students, I am looking forward to meeting you all and creating bonds that will last a lifetime. So, let's get into it!
I am from the coal region in a small-town called Gilberton, PA. I have wanted to be in the military since I was 11 years old, so when my senior year came along I looked into the Senior Military Colleges and Norwich University had just stood out and intrigued me from the beginning. So, I applied for a Mechanical Engineering major in the Corps of Cadets. I love working out, playing chess, and reading historical Nonfiction.
While in Norwich's Corps of Cadets, I will be pursuing NROTC Navy Option in order to earn a commission as an Ensign upon graduation. I am ready to work hard and prove myself as a Rook and eventually a Norwich Cadet.
I am looking to get involved in many of activities, such as rugby, Golden Anchor Society, Rotaract, Spanish Club, French Club, The Norwich Guidon, and potentially other athletics as time may allow.
What I am looking forward to most at Norwich is getting exposed to the military way of life and to create bonds and friendships with professors and my fellow Rooks during all four years. This is a great place to start our lives at and I believe we as the Class of 2025 have a lot to offer to give back to Norwich and make our institution proud!
I can't wait to meet you all, make our time at Norwich the best time, and make our mark at Norwich! 19 days until Rook Arrival Day!
