Arrival day is approaching for many Cadets for FTX week. Personally, I will training with the Cavalry Troop... but there are many other students who are partaking in Band and Drill as well. As a Rook, I have spent my summer preparing for this weekend for a while now; whether I was at the gym building endurance or muscle, reading my summer reading book for English class, or shopping around for all of the items that were on my "Rook Packing List". It is currently my last day here on Long Island, until I drive up to Vermont with my parents tomorrow morning. So far I have checked my bags and my checklist to make sure I have everything I need multiple times (as if my hangers could grow legs and walk out of the bag). Later I will be having dinner with my family for the last time until Thanksgiving. I am so excited for this new journey of mine and to meet so many people over the next two weeks who have the same common interests and future goals as I do. Although I am going to miss the beaches here, my pets, my family, and my friends, I am excited to move into the mountains to meet new friends, take care of a horse, and see other animals that I wouldn't normally see here on a daily basis.
