Preparing for arrival

Arrival day is approaching for many Cadets for FTX week. Personally, I will training with the Cavalry Troop... but there are many other students who are partaking in Band and Drill as well. As a Rook, I have spent my summer preparing for this weekend for a while now; whether I was at the gym building endurance or muscle, reading my summer reading book for English class, or shopping around for all of the items that were on my "Rook Packing List". It is currently my last day here on Long Island, until I drive up to Vermont with my parents tomorrow morning. So far I have checked my bags and my checklist to make sure I have everything I need multiple times (as if my hangers could grow legs and walk out of the bag). Vermont Weather Thoughts

I was told that this April was one of the warmest Aprils in Vermont history. That could be debatable, but at the same time I’m not a Vermonter so what do I know? But that does bring up questions, such as how does a normal Vermont April look like? Is it more snowy? Less warm? Still in the sub 10’s? The thought of it makes me shiver in painful anticipation. Out of all the good things that came along during this COVID crisis. A warm introduction to Vermont was what I needed. At least I can adapt better, it was still cold in the warmest Vermont winter. Snow. Why

I thought we had gotten rid of it. April is coming to an end, there were sunny days and not a speck of snow was in sight. Then two days straight of snow appeared and I absolutely loathe it. Vermont's weather changes anytime it wishes and we can only watch as it ruins another day where I could have played soccer outside. Such a travesty in the chase for warm weather and bright skies.
